Organic reach is dropping as social media companies scramble for profit. So how does our Blog Boosting Add-On Service get your blog posts in front of more people?

Social media platforms such as Facebook is a great tool for simple brand awareness. Every working day, but with organic reach dropping, it's difficult to get more than a handful of people seeing what you share before it drops off their timelines.

When a client subscribes to our Social Sharing Add-On Service, it's all about improving their brand awareness. Those handful of people are not the same ones each time, so what we do is a bit like a war of attrition.

There are ways to increase organic reach yourself. For example, when we share something to your Facebook business page, you 'like' it, leave a comment on it and share it to your own timeline while asking a question in the status box.

This means your 'friends' may see a share rather than just the people who like your business page and that improves the chances of them engaging with it, or even liking your business page, so they see future posts.

But social sharing (the war of attrition part I mentioned above) is a slow way of growing your likes, followers and connections. Surely there must be a better way to improve the reach of your blog posts?

"Well, yes there is ... when it comes to social media, if you pay they let you play!"

First of all, I need to say that I'm not confident with the return on investment we get from Twitter advertising, and LinkedIn ads are actually rather expensive. We concentrate our efforts on boosting our clients' weekly blog posts on Facebook.

Now, this is a typical response when I talk to people about boosting on Facebook: "Ah, but surely business people won't be on Facebook during the day, you're just wasting my advertising fees?"

Actually no! You can specify an audience (location, age, gender, interests) and Facebook is rather intelligent about when and where it displays the share for your boosted blog post. So if you want 'self-employed people within 15km of Milton Keynes' to see your blog post in their newsfeeds, well, we can make that happen for you.

With clients who subscribe to our Blog Boosting Add-On Service, we usually set the boost to run for the next six days (from publication), ready for their new blog post to appear the following week. They decide how much they want to spend each week and we include it in their monthly subscription; we then spread the booster fees across the following four weekly blog posts.

Even a small £10 per blog post boost will increase the reach tenfold. A reach of 10 to 20 people seeing an organically shared blog post in their newsfeeds can easily rise to 1,000 or more with minimal spend. Facebook is good like that ... if you get specific with it.

We do all the work, you get all the glory? What's not to like about that?

Until next time ...
