Remember, social media posts disappear from feeds pretty quickly, but email tends to hang around in inboxes for far longer and a lot of people will click and scan through to see if there's any benefit to them reading it.

Spam filters are a real problem for email marketers. We all want to put our products, services and special offers in there but as soon as you use words like 'free', 'sale' and 'special' (and currency symbols), spam filters start getting interested in your email and shunt them into junk folders or don't bother delivering them at all.
Try tricking them by using symbols or spaces (for example, 's p e c I a l o f f e r' or 's.p.e.c.i.a.l ... o.f.f.e.r') and they'll know you're up to something dodgy. Just send an image rather than text and you're junked almost immediately. You have to get your text/HTML/image ratios right to pass inspection.
So, what can you do? Well, you change your thinking from sales, sales, sales to trust-building and brand awareness. You email your new blog post each week instead, and get your branding and knowledge into the recipient's mind.
Remember that 99% of your contacts are in 'don't need now but may need in the future' mode and brand awareness is about getting them to contact you before they dive into search. Sending your blog post each week is a great way to do this.

We can even set up an 'exit intent' sign-up form too.
Each time someone signs-up via your blog, and once we validate that it's not spam, you'll get an email with their details in it and they get an email thanking them for joining your list and asking them to 'whitelist' your email address to ensure future delivery.
